Silent Night Holy Night

The world-famous song "Silent Night, Holy Night" comes from the Salzburg Lungau. From 1815 to 1817 Joseph Mohr worked as coadjutor in Mariapfarr and wrote the text of his world-famous Christmas carol "Silent Night, Holy Night" during this time. The parish and pilgrimage museum in Mariapfarr is located in the historic premises of the old rectory next to the minor basilica in Mariapfarr, with valuable exhibits, documentation about Joseph Mohr and a nativity scene with figures from the 18th century.
